Inspiring Insights from Paul Fry, CEO of Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative

Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to meet with Paul Fry, CEO and President of Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in Renville, Minnesota.

Paul’s journey to leadership is driven by his deep passion for sugar and solving problems for others — a combination that has taken him around the world. Now, as CEO of this farmer-owned cooperative, Paul helps lead a team that produces up to 1 billion pounds of pure white sugar annually, with over 500 shareholder farmers growing around 3 million tons of sugarbeets each year.

During our conversation, Paul shared invaluable advice for aspiring professionals and entrepreneurs:
✅ Develop a skill set that people need and value
✅ Be reliable — consistency builds trust
✅ Embrace hard challenges — those experiences will fuel your growth
✅ Don’t overthink — sometimes action is the best first step
✅ Walk toward problems — facing challenges head-on leads to solutions

Thank you, Paul, for sharing your journey and wisdom with us! Your insights are a powerful reminder of what it takes to lead, grow, and succeed.
